Your Instructor

Meet Sam Bowker.

Sam Bowker, professional drum and percussion teacher

My musical career started at age 6 playing drums, and I quickly had a full Beach Boys album under my belt. I started teaching at 16 and realized I enjoyed teaching as much as playing. I've been at both ever since.

Over the last 35+ years I've taught students of every age and every level, from absolute beginners to nationally competitive players. My approach is built on individualized lesson plans, strong fundamentals, and keeping it fun.

Teaching philosophy.

01

Get good at the basics

Proficiency in the rudiments lets every student make quicker progress and develop a strong foundation for any style of music.

02

Each student is different

Every lesson plan is individualized to your level, learning pace, practice time, and schedule. That keeps students motivated and progressing.

03

Have fun

Music should be fun to learn and fun to play. Lessons stay engaging, and yes, current with what kids actually care about.

What families are saying.

"My son began taking guitar lessons two years ago with Sam, and he has been an incredible instructor. Sam is encouraging, knowledgeable, and extremely well-versed in music. The growth in my son's guitar playing has been astronomical, and his confidence has grown right along with his skills."
Sarah Bristol
"For over a year my son has been taking drum lessons from Sam and its been fantastic! He is beyond knowledgeable about the instruments he teaches and he is also very patient! Which, for kids, patience is key!"
Alexandra Jacobs
"I hired Sam Bowker for guitar lessons for my teen daughter back in July. She had been taking lessons from someone else for a while but still couldn't play a single tune. Within just three weeks with Sam, she was playing! Switching to Sam was the best decision I could have made. He's a compassionate teacher with incredible music knowledge, and he makes every lesson exciting and fun. He's genuinely funny, but best of all he has a big heart, and knows exactly how to keep students motivated. We will absolutely be sticking with Sam, highly recommend him!"
